The Director of Accounting provides faithful and professional oversight of the financial operations of the church, school, and various church plants. This part-time position ensures that all accounting, reporting, and compliance functions are carried out with accuracy, transparency, and integrity, supporting the mission and ministry of the congregation. The Director of Accounting works closely with the Church Administrator, Treasurer, Senior Pastor, and Principal.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
FINANCIAL LEADERSHIP
Maintain accurate and timely accounting records, internal controls, and monthly financial reports in accordance with congregational policy, and at the request of the Board of Directors and Senior Pastor.
Provide financial analysis of operations to identify areas for cost reduction, improved cash flow, and revenue enhancement (if applicable).
Carry out special projects as assigned by the Church Administrator or Senior Pastor relating to the financial operations of the church, school, and church plants.
Implement policy and procedures and other internal controls to provide for the control and safeguarding of assets.
Manage FACTS family accounts, incorporating school tuition and financial aid
Supervise the Accounting Clerk as needed.
Collaborate with the Treasurer to ensure transparency and accountability.
Work with Senior Pastor to continue to build a culture of generosity within Crown of Life’s ministry.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field (preferred).
5–7+ years of related experience (experience with a church is a plus).
Equivalent combinations of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Strong organizational, financial, and project management skills.
Ability to balance multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster teamwork and resolve conflict.
Clear written and verbal communication, including reports and presentations.
Experience in staff leadership, performance management, and HR processes.
Familiarity with accounting software, spreadsheets, and database systems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Part-time role (20-25 hours/week), primarily weekdays.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and walk/stand for extended periods.
Noise level typically low to moderate.
