The Director of Finance and Administration will manage the business affairs of the church in the areas of finance and budgeting, benefits, and insurance. Oversee the maintenance and security of all church buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Responsibilities
Prepare analyses of church finances, future needs, income projection, and patterns of donor giving.
Direct and oversee the preparation of the annual budget.
Organize and supervise finance staff and cross-training on all accounting functions.
Oversee the finance staff management of contributions, accounts payable, payroll, and tax reporting for all church accounts; ensures proper maintenance of financial records.
Work with Treasurer to execute financial strategies.
Prepare and present monthly reports to Budget and Stewardship Committee for Session and for staff as needed.
Review journal entries to General Ledger and reconciled bank statements.
Oversee the preparation of annual audit and its review.
Support annual stewardship and capital campaigns (as needed).
Assist in promoting generosity, legacy (endowment), and non-cash giving.
Oversee Operations and Facilities staff in developing and managing organizational systems, equipment repair, and maintenance.
Oversee management of employee benefits and insurance.
Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local tax laws.
Working with Trustees and staff, maintain a multi-year schedule for capital maintenance and improvements with costs.
Working with the Trustees and Facility Manager, ensure building security, safety, and risk management.
Oversee and update all insurance policies.
Special projects as assigned by the Senior Director of Operations and Staff Development

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or comparable discipline.
At least ten years General Business, Accounting or Finance experience.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Leadership skills including the ability to execute strategic direction and provide operational oversight to ensure goals are achieved; ability to lead and mentor staff to achieve results.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal group and committees as well as external business groups and vendors.
Ability to identify and communicate accounting and financial reporting issues to upper-level management and committees in a timely and concise manner.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
Ability to acquire overall proficiency in Third Church’s IT systems used for accounting and financial reporting.
Thorough understanding of budgetary and cash/fund accounting principles, practices, and policies.
