Primarily responsible for preparing monthly financial statements, maintaining general ledger accuracy, bank reconciliations, cash flow reporting, budgeting, and overseeing the work of accounts payable clerks, bookkeeper, and cashier.
Specific Tasks:
Direct and supervise employees in the Accounting and Finance Department.
Establishes and communicates policies and procedures for the department.
Implements controls to safeguard cash and other assets of the church.
Prepare and distribute the monthly financial reports, including ash flow projection and budget distribution reports for all departments.
Prepare annual financial budget for Budget Advisory Group's approval.
Preparation of Annual Association Report.
Prepare construction reports.
Monthly reconcile multiple bank statements.
Work closely with independent auditors in preparation and completion of annual audit.
Monthly reconcile multiple bank statements and oversee banking activity.
Interface with departmental directors to provide information, assistance and other services as it related to financial accounting.
Work closely with Payroll Clerk in making sure all payroll items are properly accounted for and recorded in the general ledger.
Responsible for accurate and timely payment of accounts payable and payment of tax liabilities.
Implement and oversee all purchasing procedures.
Ensure all credit card statements are recorded in general ledger.
Specific Experience Required:
Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar environment. Experience working with ADP - Workforce Now and Workforce Manager. Preferred experience working with Saga Intacct accounting software.
Specific Skills Required:
Must have a thorough understanding of financial accounting principles. Must have skill in dealing with others and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Equally important, this position requires an individual with a high degree of integrity, honesty and a respect for complete confidentiality in all areas of responsibility. An uncompromising, unquestionable character must be reflected in fact and in appearance to peers and co-workers at all times.
Other Requirements: Membership and active involvement in a local Protestant church.
Physical Abilities:
Must be able to sit at a computer and enter data for several hours a day, viewing a monitor for long periods of time. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
