Position is full-time, non-exempt. Employee is paid hourly for all hours worked and is eligible for overtime. Position is eligible for health and retirement benefits as well as paid time off (sick, vacation, holidays).

Brief Description of Position: This position is responsible for performing or supervising all daily accounting and financial functions in support of Broadway’s mission.
Key Responsibilities and Typical Duties:
Ensure timely and accurate processing of all monetary transactions.
Record and deposit all budget and designated contributions, either from the mail, offering plate, or online.
Prepare contribution thank you letters for staff signatures, according to established guidelines.
Record all accounts receivable transactions.
Prepare and balance cash boxes for all activities involving cash transactions.
Monitor various bank account balances and transfer money from designated funds or draw on the line of credit when appropriate.
Reconcile bank statements monthly in partnership with the Administrator.
Prepare and send contribution statements quarterly (email) and annually (regular mail).
Ensure all bills are paid on a timely basis through the accounts payable system.
Review and approve coding of invoices by staff and Accounts Payable Clerk.
Select invoices to be paid each week.
Process ACH payments.
Process blue sheets.
Coordinate with Finance Committee members for check signing.
Prepare and distribute timely, accurate, and understandable financial information.
Post all journal entries.
Produce monthly financial reports.
Review reports for posting errors and make corrections when needed.
Distribute monthly financial reports to staff, committee chairs, and Finance Committee.
Compile all accounting information needed for an efficient and successful Audit.
Pull invoices and other accounting records as requested for Audit testing.
Produce accounting and financial reports for Audit review.
Prepare spreadsheets as requested by Auditors or Administrator in connection with Audit.
Answer accounting procedures and compliance questions as requested by Auditors.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or comparable experience maintaining books and preparing financial statements; church experience preferred
Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Applications, (e.g., Word, Excel); Shelby or other church-related software experience preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
