Pastor/Director of Care

Overview

The Pastor/Director of Care is responsible for the ministry of the care team. This person will be successful when CPC is growing in its ability to care for the CPC community and increase the number of lay leaders participating in care ministry. This pastoral position reports to the Executive Pastor.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee and provide leadership to the care ministry at CPC. Work to ensure care ministry efforts are in alignment with CPC’s mission and goals
• Provide pastoral care through counseling and visitation to members needing support for health concerns, grief, crisis, marital conflict, and other life transitions
• Provide leadership, management, and development to the overall care team and each individual member of the team
• Manage the pastor on-call system and equip other pastors with resources to enhance pastoral care
• Oversee the memorial ministry and wedding ministry at CPC. Conduct services, develop ministry efforts as needed
• In collaboration with the Director of Lay Care Ministries, empower and equip lay care ministries through recruitment, training, and leader development. Strategically develop new lay care ministries as needed
• Oversee programmatic and relational ministry for senior adults
• Manage the counseling referral list and assist in making appropriate referrals
• Work in collaboration with the Director of Building & Grounds and Executive Director on providing management to the Memorial Prayer Garden
• Lead the care team in planning and implementation of care events for the broader CPC community, including the annual Candlelight Memorial service
• Pastoral responsibilities
  • Participate in on-call rotation
  • Assist in weekend services
  • Conduct baptisms, weddings, and funerals
  • Preaching as needed
• Teach classes and groups as needed

OTHER DUTIES

• Meet regularly with Executive Pastor for development, encouragement, feedback, and accountability
• Serve as an active member on the Coordinating Team
• Attend CPC staff meetings and other staff day away/retreats
• Other duties as assigned

POSITION REPORTING: Pastor/Director of Care reports to the Executive Pastor

HOURS: This is a full-time (40 hours a week), year-round, exempt and salaried position

TRAVEL: This position has potential travel, a minimum of two weeks per year

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Actively pursuing a relationship with Jesus Christ

• Commitment to make CPC your home church and faith community

• Alignment with CPC mission, values and statement of faith and ECO Essential tenets

• Experience in care ministry and/or chaplaincy
• Strong interpersonal skills, a pastoral and caring heart for others
• Leadership experience on church staff team or non-profit environment
• Proven ability to cast vision and develop and execute on strategy
• Proactive and effective communicator, collaborative spirit and team player
• Ability to recruit, develop and empower volunteers
• Warm-hearted, gregarious, and gifted at networking
• Emotionally intelligent with strong listening skills
• Management experience, including direct oversight of staff, teams, and volunteers in day-to-day functions
• MDiv or MA or similar level of theological training and actively working toward ordination 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Willingness to be ordained with ECO denomination and licensed in the State of Minnesota
• One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
• Strong organizational, detail-oriented, and multi-tasking skills

• Experience with Planning Center Online (PCO)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to sit, walk, and/or stand for prolonged periods of time
• Ability to walk or move about in order to accomplish tasks
• Ability to manipulate (life, carry, move) weights of up to 30 pounds
• Ability to perform tasks involving keyboard and computer monitor, requiring ability to grasp and utilize finger dexterity and visual acuit
