Ministry Description: The Executive Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of Huntsville First United Methodist Church (Huntsville FUMC), promoting a loving and inclusive Christian community by providing organizational development and leadership, and providing healthy process and systems for sustainability of human, financial, and physical resources.
Support the Senior Pastor and full-time clergy in developing and implementing the vision statement of FUMC, creating a unified approach to upholding the Church’s values and fulfilling the Church’s mission.
Assist the Senior Pastor to relieve them of administrative and tactical management duties and responsibilities.
Be responsible for systems and processes for the development and performance of the staff, to maximize effectiveness and create a healthy culture of team and collaboration.
Oversee the financial resources of the church, in collaboration with Director of Finance and Finance Committee, ensuring it runs within a set budget.
Coordinate the work of the Facility Engineer and work with the Board of Trustees to ensure efficient and well-maintained facilities and campus.
Serve as administrative staff liaison to Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC), Board of Trustees, Finance Committee, and Church Leadership Team ensuring information is imparted to relevant committees and leadership.
Coordinate the work of our campus, ensuring alignment of mission and values, and managing shared services of operational support.
Make recommendations to Senior Pastor and SPRC on personnel matters and concerning staff (other than clergy and Director of Music) performance and compensation.
Coordinate events held at Huntsville FUMC, such as the AL Annual Conference, and other events whose purpose is to equip people for ministry.
Create and maintain administrative policies and procedures, including job descriptions in the church.
Perform other duties as may be required or assigned by the Senior Pastor and SPRC.
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Public Administration, Accounting, or related field
Minimum of 10-15 years of work experience, 5 years of leadership experience
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, and as needed
Reports to: Senior Pastor and SPRC

Understanding of the vision of Huntsville FUMC
Strong interpersonal skills
Experience supervising staff
Strong organizational, management, and communication skills
Relevant computer skills

Huntsville First UMC has an opening for an Executive Director.
HFUMC is a historic downtown church with a rich heritage.
Methodists came into this area in 1807. The Methodist Society organized at Hunt’s Spring prior to the formation of Madison County and served 1808-1820 by Flint Circuit traveling ministers. First Church built in 1821 at the corner of Clinton and Gallatin Streets. Present site acquired in 1832 and completed in 1834. The church was occupied and accidentally burned by the Federals in 1864. The Cornerstone was laid in 1867 for the present sanctuary and dedicated in 1874.
