The Business Administrator is accountable to the Session through the Personnel Ministry, supervised by the Senior Minister, for serving the church by being responsible for the business operations of First Presbyterian Church. These duties include but are not limited to being responsible for office administration, oversight of buildings and grounds, insurance, equipment, finances, personnel, communications and information systems.
? Oversees all financial functions of the church, including, but not limited to, contributions and other receipts, accounts payable, payroll, bank reconciliations, investments, and financial reporting using the modified cash basis of accounting. This includes ensuring effective adherence to all policies related to these areas.
? Oversees the annual audit and budget processes.
? Ensures appropriate financial and personnel records are maintained appropriately and in accordance with the church record retention policy.
? Oversees administrative support in the area of human resources including, but not limited to, assisting with hiring and orientation for new staff members including completing necessary paperwork, insurance and retirement plan enrollments.
? Develops, maintains, and proposes revisions of written policies and guidelines as needed to ensure administrative efficiency and integrity, as well as local, state, and federal laws.
? Manages telecommunications, computer operations, and information systems.
? Directs the facilities management program of the church in coordination with the Building & Grounds Committee and Facilities Manager. This includes, but is not limited to, developing and monitoring operational policies regarding church facilities and vehicle fleet.
? Periodically evaluates the insurance needs of the church to ensure appropriate and adequate insurance coverages are in place.
? Assumes any duties and assignments given by the Senior Minister, Personnel Committee, or the Session of the church.
? Serves as the staff liaison to the Stewardship Committee, Missions Committee, Budget Committee, Building and Grounds Committee, Communications Committee, Finance Committee, Investment Committee, Presbyterian Endowment Trust Committee, Scholarship Committee and other committees as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position supervises the persons assigned to her/him to include Maintenance Supervisor, Financial Secretary, Communications Director, Membership Director, Receptionist, and Kitchen Assistant.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
? Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
? Knowledge of business and financial principles
? Skilled in facilitating the development of alternative solutions and addressing recommendations.
? Ability to organize assignments provided by the Senior Minster, Finance Committee, Personnel Committee and work independently.
? Skilled in the use of current technology and software systems.
? Ability to work effectively with others and resolve differences.
? Knowledge of office procedures required in the efficient management of a business office.
? Demonstrates use of strong interpersonal and communication skills.
? Ability to facilitate and coordinate organizational goals and strategies.
? Provide the leadership and team orientation of staff to meet the needs of organization.
