A mega church in Atlanta is seeking a Controller to direct the fiscal functions of the Church in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board, and other regulatory and advisory organizations in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the not-for-profit environment.
Essential Functions may include:
Managing internal controls, compliance with tax laws and regulations, budgeting and forecasting, accounting and financial reporting, and cash management.
Manage the support services areas consisting of finance, accounting, and cash control.
Review, implement and monitor all written policies and procedures for the Finance and Accounting functions to ensure that all reporting for the Church is complete in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Develop and monitor processes and procedures to ensure internal financial controls are in place to safeguard the organization’s assets.
Oversee the preparation and interpretation of monthly financial statements, including reporting on variances from budget.
Manage Non-Cash donor gifts.
Coordinate with the Director of Business Operations on all security related matters involving cash handling procedures and protocols.
Coordinate and develop the annual operating and capital budgeting process.
Responsible for cash flow management
Ensure preparation of timely, accurate and relevant financial reports and forecasts.
Direct annual external audit process performed by external auditors. Meet all deadlines for the annual report.
Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
Candidate must have a growing and mature, demonstrated personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required, MBA, CPA preferred.
Ten plus years work related experience in Accounting/Finance required, preferably in a church environment.
Superior verbal and written communication skills (grammar, writing and editing) as well as presentation skills required to be able to professionally interact and communicate with individuals at all levels within the Ministry as well as with external Church members and other ministry organizations.
Effective problem analysis and resolution skills.
Ability to develop, plan, and implement Ministry and Church related short and long-range goals, as well as to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
