The First Presbyterian Church of West Chester (Pennsylvania) has an immediate opening for a Director of Operations to provide administrative and operational leadership for the day-to-day operations related to finances, facilities, information technology, and human resources. First Presbyterian Church has served its congregation, historic community, and surrounding areas for nearly 200 years. With more than 1,300 members, First Presbyterian Church responds to God’s grace by following Christ with ministries of hospitality, worship, faith development, service and generosity.
General Responsibilities Include:
Finance: Maintain all congregational financial records; prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as assigned; serve as staff liaison to the Finance and Stewardship and Investment committees; support preparation of annual budgets; assure that proper internal financial controls and policies are in place, including separation of duties, record keeping, reporting; negotiate contracts with outside organizations as required, as well as review and sign all contracts the church enters into.
Facilities Management: Serve as point person for all aspects of building maintenance; negotiate and coordinate all work done by contractors; assure compliance of all insurance requirements; assure the condition, safety, cleanliness and security of church structures and grounds are appropriate; negotiate maintenance contracts and oversee purchasing of equipment and supplies used in maintenance and administration; coordinate and act as primary purchasing agent for equipment, furniture, fixtures, supplies, etc., and attend Board of Trustee meetings as required.
Human Resources: Provide daily support to Church staff for personnel matters; assure updated documentation of policies, procedures and handbook; oversee administration of compensation and benefits; serve as liaison between staff/ personnel committee and the Board of Pensions, and supervise the operations staff.
Information Technology: Assure management of Information Systems and Technology resources including computer needs and use, network requirements, software evaluation and purchase, church database and all electronic communications, and serve as primary point of contact for IT contractors and vendors.

Bachelor’s degree in business management and accounting/management plus at least five years of experience in medium- to large-church or nonprofit organizations
Flexibility in scheduling with occasional evenings or weekends. Ability to motivate, coordinate and interact with volunteers
Demonstrated management skills and supervisory experience
Understanding of church culture, mission-based objectives, values-driven leadership, and team development
Able to work independently with minimal supervision and in close cooperation with the Head of Staff
Computer literate with demonstrated competence in use of MS Office and church management software
