The Church Business Administrator / Office Manager is responsible for timely and accurate updates and reporting of integrated financials for the Church and Christian Day School. The position directly performs and/or supervises a part-time accountant and interfaces directly with all employees and church/school volunteers. Responsibilities include supervising the accounting function (cash receipts / disbursements), insurance, risk management and human resources. Further duties include working with ministry staff and church committees related to contracts and the annual budgeting.
The candidate must have proficient knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, general ledger, terminology, and best practices. Further, the candidate must understand current HR practices and the general concepts of benefits programs. Preferred candidates will have church or non-profit full-charge bookkeeping or accounting experience, with a clear understanding for managing donor designated funds. A qualified candidate must have strong Microsoft Office skills with exceptional Excel capabilities, with abilities to generate standard and customized reports from accounting software systems. Experience with ACS Technologies and Church Community Builder applications (or similar) is preferred. The candidate must be able to communicate financial information with church staff, members, volunteers, guests, and external financial entities such as bank staff, CPAs, accounting software service desks, outside consultants, suppliers and vendors. This role works with confidential information and must respect utmost privacy of all financial and HR data.
