Ministry Responsibilities Summary:
Develop the mission ministry teams and the congregation towards mobilizing the Trinity community to engage in the local, national and global mission of Christ’s church through informed and joyful stewardship of time, talents, resources and prayer. Provide creative leadership to the mission ministries. Help direct future church planting initiatives.
Primary Duties (80% of time):
Partner with the Mission Ministries Teams (Core Leadership, Mission Stewardship, Mission Care, Mission Education, Suri/Ethiopia, and Short-term Mission Trips) to creatively interpret the biblical and strategic nature of God’s activity in the world and in Trinity’s partnership efforts. Train team leaders and help facilitate their personal growth as team leaders, provide resources for teams to enhance their effectiveness in their particular area of concentration. Utilize Trinity’s missional values and strategies for guiding the mission ministries.
Build, develop and resource the Mission Ministries Teams that they may effectively:
Develop an awareness of and sensitivity to the cultural and social needs in our own community and how to meet the needs in collaboration with our partnership agencies.
Develop a variety of local, national and international short-term mission opportunities designed to involve the broadest scope of the Trinity family in mission experiences.
Facilitate connection for Trinity members with ministry opportunities through local partnership agencies.
Challenge each member of the Trinity family to find their place in God’s mission; provide training, support and mentoring for those exploring both short-term and long-term options.
Support Trinity’s missionary partners with prayer, hospitality and pastoral care through correspondence and personal contact. Coordinate mission partner visits, and help the congregation to connect with our mission partners thru regular updates.
Oversee the stewardship of Trinity’s financial and personal mission resources, including evaluating current and developing new ministry partnerships.
Work with the Missions Administrative Assistant to produce attractive and relevant promotional pieces for Trinity’s various mission programs.
Resource and coordinate future congregational engagement with planting new congregations.
Liaison with ECO and other church planting leadership.
Research potential church plants and strategies, and focus initiatives for success.
Empower, equip and encourage future ministry partners engaged in church planting.
Plan and implement our Refresh & Renew mission partner support conference (every third year).
Prepare and maintain reports and records related to assigned activities.
Communicate with other administrators, staff and outside organizations to coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues and conflicts and exchange information.
Attend and participate in meetings as assigned (Tuesday morning all-staff; mid-week evening team meetings).
Operate a computer and assigned software programs; operate other office equipment as assigned; drive a vehicle to conduct work as assigned.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Description of Schedule: Full-time, salaried, exempt, 40+ hours per week; attend monthly meetings, many at night; is an active and committed member of the Trinity family including attendance in weekly Sunday worship.
Training Required: Attend regional and national training events as time and funds permit. Be trained in the ShelbyNext database.
Accountability & Review:
Executive Associate Pastor in conjunction with the Mission Ministry Elder and the Community Ministries Elder will conduct an annual performance review.
Skills & Competencies:
Experience in training and leading short-term mission experiences.
Proven ability to recruit, train and encourage ministry partners and teams.
Passion for mobilizing Christians of all ages into mission.
Awareness of a broad scope of mission opportunities locally, nationally and globally.
Leadership, administration and instruction skills.
Oral and written communication skills.
Interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Ability to develop, implement, and edit comprehensive ministry plans.
Proficient user of Word and Excel, has the ability to quickly learn the church database system (ShelbyNext).
Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures.
The person in this position will be expected to have previously embraced the essential tenets of the Christian faith, including a personal belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Experience & Education:
Three years’ experience in mission ministry preferred.
Bachelor’s degree required.
