This position is part-time/20 hours/week.The College Ministry Intern will develop a year-round program based out of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church (MDPC) for college students in the Houston area, as well as MDPC youth-turned-college students around the country. This person will develop relevant programs and pursue relationships with students to encourage them into a deeper walk with Christ, service, mission, and engagement with the MDPC church body.
Responsibilities will be divided among outreach ministry, discipleship ministry, leadership development, and administration; e.g. spending significant time on local college campuses, planning Christ-centered fellowship, service opportunities, and Bible study opportunities for college students, and introducing them into community at MDPC; mentoring college students in one-on-one settings; working collaboratively with young Adult Ministries; insuring communication and calendaring of events within the ministry area.
The person in this position will require a college degree from an accredited college or university, and experience in youth-related ministry; a sincere love for college students and a willingness to have fun and connect to students; proven skill and experience in creating, organizing, and administering college-age activities; a contagious faith and an active life of Christian discipleship that is modeled in an authentic way to college students. Position will require an ability to facilitate small group discussion, teach a Bible study, and empower volunteers to lead small groups; and a strong knowledge of the Bible.
